Emma (Penguin Classics)

Emma - Jane Austen, Fiona Stafford To my mind, the most troublesome of Austen's work. I just feel Emma should have been out conquering the world, not stuck in a tiny English village for the rest of her life. Even with a man who loves her. Obviously I'm not suggesting that as some kind of AU Emma fanfic proposition. I think the restriction of women's lives is kind of what it's about, but it just depresses the hell out of me.
